Summary

Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) is a sophisticated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform, used by many public sector and quasi-public sector organisations, and provides the IT backbone for business areas such as finance, procurement, human resources, payroll, asset management and customer relationship management.  With “cloud first” being necessary in many domains, there are options to deploy EBS on cloud infrastructure to satisfy this technology strategy.

However, migrating EBS to an infrastructure cloud, upgrading it, or just supporting it can be daunting for organisations, many of whom will not have all of the necessary specialist skills, expertise or capacity required.

Often, organisations resort to a patchwork of different technology solutions to cover traditional ERP functionality instead. This patchwork can, in time, become equally complex to manage, and often with greater data risks, downtime, or limitations in terms of data analytics and reporting.

Simply outsourcing the whole task to a large systems integrator can seem a costly and complex route, even for the largest organisation. This can be particularly true for public service organisations where budgets are inevitably constrained, and unavoidable tendering for systems integration can be tricky.

Topics to be covered:

This complimentary roundtable event will consider the strategies which public service organisations need to take advantage of ERP solutions, such as EBS, whilst containing risk and cost. For example:

  • How to define the supplier relationship and services required in tendering.
  • Determining how best to migrate Oracle E-Business Suite to a Cloud Infrastructure.
  • How to balance in-house skills with those needed externally.
  • How to manage a private partnership without breaking the bank.
  • Determining appropriate arrangements for skills transfer to the in-house team.
  • Being able to demonstrate value for money, given numerous intangibles.

Whilst there is no ‘magic bullet’, our panel group of experts will consider, from the client perspective, how public service organisations, especially those that are smaller or budget constrained, can take advantage of solutions such as EBS, whilst managing cost, risk and supplier relationships.
