Claremont

Data Migration and Development

Claremont provides highly experienced, customer-focused technical consultants to support and extend Oracle E-Business Suite. We work to minimise technical changes in Oracle E-Business Suite but for most clients some customisation is inevitable. Our consultants deliver standards-based solutions that deliver business benefit while not adversely affecting long term supportability.

Claremont’s development services include:

  • Data migration, data integration and interfacing
  • Enhancements and extensions
  • Reports – including Oracle Reports, BI Publisher, Discoverer and OBIEE
  • Forms – including “professional” Oracle Forms and Self Service (OA Framework) forms
  • Business Process Automation and Workflow

Claremont’s development model ensures that all technical development preserves project timescales and budgets and does not introduce future support issues. All work is designed, developed, tested and documented to quality and development standards. We are able to maximise the cost benefits of using oversees resources where appropriate.

Our development Model is underpinned by three key concepts:

  • Team Structure

Claremont only employs experienced consultants with a proven track record of high quality technical development, original thinking and the ability to challenge and refine requirements.

A typical development team will include the following:

  • An onshore Solution Architect who is responsible for ensuring that all extensions, interfaces and reports meet the business needs
  • Onshore Technical Leads (Domain Experts) write the technical designs, are responsible for delivering the vision to the developers and mentoring them to ensure the work is approached in the most effective way
  • Developers work in an open and collaborative style. These are normally UK-based resources, however Claremont also delivers offshore development where appropriate.
  • Approach
    • While there is never a truly “vanilla” Oracle E-Business Suite system, our functional and technical consultants work to minimise technical changes and ensure all developments are pragmatic, elegant and future-proof
    • We maintain a clear distinction between the functional and technical design documents
    • Technical design documents contain:
      - A full set of UML diagrams to describe the process and the flows within the solution
      - Inter solution dependencies
      - A complete set of pseudo logic, queries, error handling, etc
    • On acceptance, the technical design will be of a quality where the developer can write effective code both quickly and accurately
    • We replicate the unit test locally before promoting code for integration or systems testing
    • Product Templates and Tools

Claremont has developed our own applications to manage the technical development lifecycle and to ensure that our code is developed in the most efficient and quality controlled way.  We have also developed re-usable products and “toolkits” that avoid “re-inventing the wheel” on every project and maximise quality while reducing risk, cost and delivery times.

An example of this is the Hermes Development Management tool.  Hermes © is a software based implementation support tool, designed to help technical and functional teams to keep track of:

    • Requirements
    • Design Documentation
    • Code Control and Code Release
    • Patching
